Tooth Extractions, Including Wisdom Teeth
When a tooth is too damaged or infected to save, extraction is often the fastest path to relief. We perform same-day extractions, including wisdom teeth causing acute pain or crowding, at all three Northern Virginia locations. Our team walks you through aftercare and any replacement options before you leave.
Cracked, Chipped, or Broken Tooth
A cracked or broken tooth can expose the nerve, cause sharp pain with every bite, and worsen quickly without treatment. Depending on severity, we can restore the tooth the same day with a crown, bonding, or extraction if repair is not possible
Severe Toothache or Dental Abscess
A severe toothache paired with swelling, pressure, or fever often signals an infection that needs treatment the same day. We drain abscesses, prescribe antibiotics when clinically appropriate, and address the underlying cause during your visit so you are not just managing symptoms.
Dental Implants
If extraction is necessary and the tooth cannot be saved, dental implants are the most durable long-term replacement option available. Implant placement is a planned procedure rather than a same-day emergency treatment, but we discuss your implant options at the emergency visit so you leave with a clear path forward rather than just an unanswered question.
Loose or Lost Fillings/Crowns
A missing filling or crown leaves the underlying tooth exposed, sensitive, and vulnerable to further damage. We re-cement or replace restorations same day in most cases to protect the tooth and eliminate the discomfort.
Root Canals
A root canal is one of the most common same-day emergency treatments we perform. If the nerve of a tooth is infected or exposed, a root canal removes the source of the pain and preserves the tooth - in most cases in a single visit. Most patients leave with significantly less discomfort than they arrived with.

Do I need an appointment for emergency care?
No appointment is required. Walk-ins are welcome at all three Grace TMJ locations in Arlington, Ashburn, and McLean. Calling ahead is always an option and helps our team prepare for your arrival, but you will not be turned away if you walk in during office hours.
Does Grace TMJ accept dental insurance for emergency visits?
We accept most major PPO plans, including Delta Dental, Aetna, Cigna, MetLife, UnitedHealthcare, Guardian, Humana, and many others. For emergency dental visits specifically, we work primarily out-of-network and accept most PPO plans. If you are uninsured, ask us about the Grace TMJ Monthly Membership Plan: $40 per month covers two exams, a cleaning, X-rays, and 50% off all dental work.
Can my emergency be treated the same day, or will I need to come back?
In most cases, yes. Extractions, root canals, same-day crowns, abscess treatment, and temporary restorations are all available during your emergency visit depending on the situation. After your free exam, we will tell you exactly what can be completed that day and whether any follow-up is needed, before anything begins.
What should I do if I knock out a tooth?
Keep the tooth moist (in milk or saliva) and contact us immediately. Fast action increases the chance of saving the tooth.
Do you treat children with dental emergencies?
Yes, we treat both children and adults at all three Northern Virginia locations. If your child has knocked out a tooth, cracked a tooth, or is in dental pain, call us right away. For knocked-out permanent teeth, acting within the first hour gives the tooth the best chance of being saved.
